project info

This cinema project explores the silent genocide against Rohingya community in Burma and the humanitarian crisis of refugee in Bangladesh. Through expanding their experience in community cinemas, AROUK hopes to use this project to bring a greater awareness of the Rohingya genocide and the people's history since 1962; as well as highlight the recent influx that took place in 2017 where more than 800,000 people were forced to flee their home. This cinema project brings a voice for the voiceless people locally and internationally. It will be a great opportunity for community members to come together and learn about the hidden atrocities and crimes against humanity that continue to this day.

This project combines documentary filmmaking with communication, and combining the impact of image, music, dialogue, lighting, sound, alongside discussion and conversation to help more people understand their own lives, and the lives of those around us.
