This cinema celebrates the experience of Black Africans coming from Nigeria to Bradford in the 50s and 60s. The event is a space for discussing how race, class, education drove and affected their experiences in the city. The Nigerian Community has produced a great 40-minute documentary telling the stories of elders and their experience in Bradford, so this project will celebrate the documentary and people within it. This cinema project has become a way of sharing information about Black communities in Bradford so they can control thier own narratives, and not be dominated by national or international stories that do not reflect true experience.
