Keyhan Modaressi creator of "Pathways of Courage" is a short film project initiated on December 15, 2023, exploring human determination and resilience. Keyhan vision is to showcase diverse stories of individuals within Bradford who defied conventions and pursued unconventional paths, inspiring viewers to reflect on their lives. The project, scheduled to conclude on March 1, 2024, will primarily be delivered in the BD1 area of Bradford. The project hopes to achieve its goals through of diverse casting, careful location selection, professional production values, and engagement strategies post-release. The film's beneficiaries include the public, attendees, and those seeking inspiration from unconventional life stories. Keyhan plans to reach a broad audience through social media, online streaming platforms, and inclusive features like subtitles. Motivated by personal experience and storytelling expertise, Keyhan is well-suited to deliver a project that encourages risk-taking and inspires positive life choices.
Alisha Bell
Alisha Bell seeks to develop diversity in the engineering field, currently dominated by only 16.5% of female engineers. To break stereotypes and provide first-hand insights into the diverse roles within engineering, Alisha aims to create opportunities for the next generation. Alisha envisions partnering with Keighley Creative to benefit both the next generation and local businesses, developing understanding and talent recognition within the field of engineering. Through the project's inclusivity it hopes to achieve an environment where a variety of learning experiences and people from various backgrounds have the opportunities to access the engineering field and be beneficial to both the next generation as well as current businesses alongside seeking to allow for better understanding and talent spotting, with a potential to lead into recruitment.
Ato Ame
Ato Ame leads the project, named "In the Shadow of a Good Dream," centred on an audio-visual exhibition at Trapezium Community Art Gallery in Bradford Town Centre. The project targets young individuals facing mental health challenges, aiming to develop artistic exploration. Positive responses may lead to future exhibitions involving local artists, developing a supportive scene for DIY musicians and performers. Atos vision is for the project to resonate with other young people struggling with mental health issues and to use art & music as an outlet to encourage them to use their experiences dealing with mental health issues to explore the experiences of the younger generation. The project hopes to achieve exhibitions involving the work of other local artists, helping to build bridges between various art & music facilities and young working class artists.
Muhammed Ibraheem
The project, "My Personal Journey and Growth," led by the organizer Muhammed Ibraheem, hopes to achieve its goal of cultivate an organic garden at Northcote Road or Harewood Street allotments, running from January to December 2024. Inspired by a desire for a healthier lifestyle and a wish to connect with elders, the project includes creating a podcast about gardening and bridging the gap with estranged family. Muhammad’s personal journey has largely influenced his vision to involve autistic friends and aims to form a group of 10-20 autistic men. Inclusivity is promoted through social media invites and personal outreach to young men, particularly those with special needs and on the spectrum, providing a space for relaxation, social activities, and learning about gardening and healthy living.
Aekam Kaur
Aekam Kaur’s project, "Explore the mind, body, and spirit through movement, music, and writing” is driven by their desire to deepen their understanding of them self and exploring consciousness. Aekam vision has led them towards the idea of creating an authentic space for self-discovery and community connection. Incorporating elements like ceremonial cacao, guided movement, and diverse dance workshops, the project encourages participants to deepen their connection with mind, body, and spirit. The goal is to develop meaningful relationships, spark conversations, and establish an ongoing series of conscious creative spaces. Social media platforms such as Instagram and YouTube will be pivotal in marketing, with a focus on inclusivity, transcending cultural boundaries, and inviting participants aged sixteen and above to explore and connect in this transformative journey. The project aims to unfold its immersive experience before April 2024 within Bradford or Keighley areas
Ellie Cansdale
Ellie Cansdale is the lead facilitator of “The Leaky Truth Workshops”, scheduled from March to April 2024 at The Rockwell Community Centre in Thorpe Edge, Bradford. Ellies vision is to destigmatize menstruation through creative sessions. Designed to promote period positivity for all genders and ages, the four workshops include activities such as sewing reusable period products, knitting, poetry writing, and period arts and crafts. Through the project Ellie hopes to achieve a healthier & positive discourse around menstruation experiences. The project also seeks to achieve a greater links with the community surrounding the centre, providing a safe space to openly address period-related issues. Accessible to all, the workshops will distribute goodie bags containing sanitary products and creative items. The project's achievability stems from society's growing awareness of menstruation inequalities and the facilitator's prior experience.
Fran Edwards
Fran Edwards, leads the project “Asbo Topia” which aims to address anti-social behaviour through constructive discussions via a playable board game. The project started on December 1, 2023, and is set to conclude on March 22, 2024, targeting Keighley Central, Keighley East, Keighley West, and Worth Valley in Bradford District. Fran’s vision & what she hopes to achieve long term is that the board game will be utilized in at least 10 youth provisions and all secondary schools in Keighley wards during this period. The team has successfully developed a working prototype and seeks to professionally produce the game for use in the Keighley community, involving young people in the design and delivery process. By targeting youth service provisions, secondary schools, and uniformed groups, the project will also achieve the goal of reflecting the diversity of the district and decreasing anti-social behaviour issues.
Ikra Ahmed
"Art in the Park" is a community project led by leader Ikra Ahmed. Focused on promoting park usage and safety. The initiative, set to run from May 5 to August 25, 2024, involves a team of eight. Located at Devonshire Park in the Highfield area of Keighley, the projects vision is to engage people of all ages in arts activities, including Mehndi, face painting, jewellery making, painting, colouring, and other crafts. The strategy includes targeting the diverse community around the park, leveraging word of mouth, leaflets, and social media. With a focus on young people and children from various backgrounds, the project seeks to benefit the entire community, developing inclusivity and offering free activities to alleviate financial challenges. Ikra is motivated by a commitment to her community, seeking to transform the park, drawing from her familiarity with the area and a desire for positive change.
Jennifer Kovacova
The "Roma Newsletter" project, initiated on December 15, 2023 by Jennifer Kovacova aims to create a newsletter focusing on informing Roma people in Bradford about cultural events and inspiring stories. . Motivated by a lifelong passion for journalism, Jennifer believes their skills make them well-suited to deliver this project and contribute to Roma community empowerment. Jenifer’s vision is that the newsletter will provide a platform for Roma youth to voice their concerns on topics like knife crime and hate crime alongside showcasing the rich Roma culture, music, and traditions. It will cover significant dates, festivals, and events, promoting awareness of Roma heritage. The newsletter will also serve educational purposes by featuring employment opportunities, training programs, and support groups for both young and older Roma individuals.
Andrew Pearson
The "Inclusion Creatives" project, launching in January 2024 and concluding in summer, aims to introduce arts and crafts sessions within the Keighley Inclusion Group. Andrew Pearson goal is to enhance well-being, build friendships, and create a mural at Parkwood Children's and Young People's Centre. The mural will be showcased at a grand opening attended by friends, family, and the community. Andrew vision is to inspire and attracts new members from local schools, developing cultural exposure through visits to Salts Mill and Keighley Creative. The plan includes creating paper murals, finalizing a design collaboratively, and involving each member in adding their image to the mural. Kheeam’s motivation stems from witnessing young people's enthusiasm for the arts, and their role involves guiding the group towards a successful project completion.
Michelle Hammond
The "Ravenscliffe in Action" project led by Michelle Hammond starting in April and concluding in September, aims to inspire young people in the Eccleshill Ward. As the Lead Project Planner, the project hopes to achieve its goal by involving young volunteers in arts sessions at Ravenscliffe Youth Centre with a focus on skill development, peer connections, and creating a designated youth space. The project's achievability is grounded in prior consultation with young people, ensuring their voices are heard and ideas implemented. The primary beneficiaries include young volunteers and participants, actively engaged in the design and delivery, contributing to the designated space's art display. Sessions will be inclusive, reflecting the district's diversity, and will run from an existing youth centre, reaching 30-80 young people per session. Motivated by a commitment to make a positive impact and serve as a role model, Michelle is well-suited to deliver this project. The plan involves four creative arts sessions led by United Arts and a planning session with young people as part of the youth club sessions.
Saul Padgett
The project, "Muslims of Tomorrow: Charity," aims to explore the Islamic community's engagement with charity. The goal is to present a positive media portrayal of Muslims and their relationship with charity, addressing negative stereotypes.
In the form of a short film the aim is to combat negative views of Muslims within the media by showcasing their charitable contributions. Hoping to raise more awareness of the Muslim community and the charities involved if their on-going work.
